Keep it on the DL

The term Keeping it on the DL (down low) seems mainstream now, but don't google it. I was surprised where it originated from...I am keeping this blog clean. (I know you will google it now that I said not to...for real?

The down low I am shooting for is totally different.  DL1961 is a genius new line for us here at Next Door. They have what is known as the stretch factor!

Denim And Its Stretch Factor

We chicks have problems with buying jeans and finding out after a few wears they have stretched out to be saggy in the butt. Sometimes you have to buy them super tight and wear them around the house for a while to stretch them out to the perfect fit… All of this can be super frustrating and a problem we have to go through with denim. If you are obsessed with having the perfect fit and conscious of how your jeans look just like I am, then run your butt over to see me at Next Door. We just got a shipment in including The Emma and The Coco.

Read this info from a "denim expert." It's wordy, but worth the read. Yes, there are numerous denim blogs out there, kind of weird but apparently I read them. ;)

Unfortunately with denim it’s a fabric that will ALWAYS stretch out no matter what you do, it’s that material that is just notorious for stretching because of how it’s made. 100% cotton jeans are the worst for stretching out and losing their shape because once they stretch they don’t go back in shape, they remain stretched out due to the lack of elasticity. Jeans with elastane/lycra

DL1961 have released their jeans in a 4 way stretch material, meaning the jeans won’t sag or lose their shape. I own a few pairs of their jeans and they are wonderful, the denim is super soft and stretchy just like a legging but the material is thicker so they are flattering like jeans. Not only are they great material but the pocket placement is wonderful, perfectly placed for the pert bottom look. I love them! Again they are a poly/cotton blend so they are perfect if you are tired of baggy bottoms and want to keep your tush tight! But unlike other poly/cotton blends they are super comfortable! I definitely recommend them! Another specific jean I have found to be great and doesn’t stretch out is Diesel Matic, I own a lot of Matics and they seem to keep their shape really well, I think it’s because of the thickness and strength of the denim, they do stretch out but they do not lose their shape. I find them to be great. Don’t buy the 100% cotton ones, buy the the poly/cotton blend or the cotton/elastane blend.

My best advice to you if you hate your jeans sagging in the butt is to buy them tight and stretch them out, you can wet stretch them by dampening the tight areas and wearing them until they fit perfectly or you can try the cotton/poly blend as it should fit right away and stay that way just like the DL1961 4 way stretch jeans. Sometimes there is nothing else you can do but stretch your jeans out if you have fallen in love with a specific pair you know will be loose after wear, just take a size down if you know it will stretch out and wet stretch them, I know it’s hassle but if you are a denim lover and you can’t resist the jeans it’s the only way!

Check out who is wearing DL1961

Kelly Rutherford

great length with heels, mature, but sexy as hell!

Victoria Justice

love her boots with this.

Tiffani Thiessen

she looks great here...understated. Of course I like the
Justin Beiber Tee. To re-read about my fan status click HERE

Gabrielle ?? Not sure it's Union, but one of my readers says it is so I'll go with that. No worries, still just checking out the jeans...not the celebrity.

perfect and easy look.

Well put....some of my favorites.

I am a sucker for a good quote, statement, or word. Spoken, written, or made into a sign. My friends must know this because they send me photos of the fun ones they see. I have a memo app on my Blackberry that I add things people say to me that I know I won't remember. Weird? Maybe, but I don't know, I like to remember the things that make sense to me, ring true, or are just damn funny!

Here are some of favorites.

I am giv'n up giv'n up.
-Jen C.
(my Moscow Mule, hair stylist friend)

From Barb, my easy going friend. :)

I have a headlight out, I'll have a Bud Light.
-Kelly P
(while out with our High School friends)

Saw this at Summerfest.

Enough said.

Did I eat dinner yet?
-Nina, my 6 year old

From my sister, Holly. Hope this isn't true, but it is pretty funny.

I don't know where it comes from lately, but I seem to refer to people as "tools."
Mostly it's their stupid behavior, which I am sure I am guilty of as well. Maybe it's okay?

From a blog I read...La Dolce Vita

Because I am a difficult human being.
-Bethanny Frankel
(Skinny Girl founder and Housewife of NYC chick.  I like that she said this, because I can relate. It is probably the reason for many things I do or have done.)

A favorite of mine. It is so me!  I really do know what you should be doing. Don't know much about what I should be doing,
but that's another story.

This butter is crap.
-Danni, via Rob, via some guy named Tony.

No idea where I found this, but I like it.

Jump'n Jesus, Holy Cow. What's the
difference anyhow?
-David Gray
(I love any song from David....but this one was my first taste of him years ago.)

I guess it just depends on the mood.

Go where you are.
-Rose
(My Monday morning yoga teacher. Kind of "yoga" like statement, it was from the first time I took her class. It was right after my Mom died and her class felt easy on my brain. She says lots of meaningful things, but this stuck.)

Self explanatory.

Love this one....I think you may have seen this one already. It was on my nightstand on my Spring Miami trip. (ridiculous....hmmm, maybe it's not bad to be. ?? I used that word in a negative way yesterday...I shouldn't do that....this is why I save these quotes, to remind me.)

From a friends FB page.
The yellow traffic signal gives
permission to be patient.
Thanks Pete.

I have many more on my phone and on my computer. I'll save some for another time.

I am up early today while no one else in my house has stirred.  Watching ESPN and a recap of the Woman's World Cup gave me the chills. These women are inspirational. The games are amazing and I have never even played soccer.
My daughter Ellie loves soccer. She made the Select A team for fall. A few years ago I had no idea what that meant, but I do now and we are really proud of her.

She is not a fan of being goalie. Maybe I should play some film of Solo annihilating her opponents during the games this week?

E is aggressive and not afraid of the ball.....I would never be able to stand in that net with a ball coming at my head! She is so fun to watch!

A friend of mine referred to this blog as
Chambers Street Adventures,
I better live up to those standards. ;)

On Thursday night I Stormed the Bastille. It's a 5k run to start out the annual french festival Bastille Days. The run starts at 9pm and winds through the city with the rest of the night being a big party.  The Eiffel Tower replica, the food and the people make this a great night. The weather was cool for the run but plenty warm to be outside...until 1:30am, if you chose to do so. I am not saying anything.....

Today we are heading to Kori and Dave's pool, again. Tonight out with friends for Danni's husband Rich's birthday. The girls are having a sleep over with Danni's girls,
so everyone is happy!

Summer is short here, we need to take advantage.
As my friend Jenny's dad says,
No Having fun!

(Jenny's car on our way to Florida this past Spring Break!)

Where ever you are, have a great weekend.

Miss me?

I know, I have been missing in action. I have taken a self proclaimed hiatus.  I am sure you are all fine with the fact that I have not babbled at you in over a week. Sometimes it is weird to blurt out all that I have been doing.  I really do enjoy this blog and am surprised at how many readers I have stopping by. I am not a narcissist and sometimes find it hard to share everything...since I assume you'll get a bit bored.

I am with my 3 girls pretty much all day in the summertime.  We went to Discovery World on lake Michigan a week ago....they were so fun. They couldn't get enough of all the exibits.

I have plenty of solo time in the evening or random days or nights when I hang with friends. I spend time at the lake, the pool, out to dinner, going to concerts, going to the gym, etc. The same thing most of us all do.  Instead of relaying it all to you I took a break.  It feels like groundhog day! Up, coffee, make beds, read, decide what we'll do today...pool, park, backyard, lunch, dinner, read some more....sun and friends! Don't get me wrong, no complaints here. I love summer, but think I need to stop relaxing and having fun...right? No? I don't know...I am used to being a control freak, drill sergeant, planner. This summer seems different. Kind of lazy, chill, a little disorganized. I have read two books this week and loved every minute of it!!!  Alright, done with the intensity of this paragraph. Next.

The house is quiet. Kids are asleep, the old man is out on his Harley with friends...it's just me and I couldn't be happier. Happy that it's 9:45pm, happy that everyone is tired and fell right to sleep, and happy that I can watch the That 70's Show Marathon. I forgot how funny this show is. Here are a few favorites! So lame, but truly hilarious writing.

On a totally different note, I went to Great America with my big girls and my friend Kori's boys.  We went on every ride!

Tomorrow is Friday...Kori and I have a standing Friday at noon pool date. Kids, (her 4 and my 3) sun, chatter, a beer, and maybe something on the grill....Mmmmm! Only a few more Fridays, I will be in the store on Fridays toward the end of the month.

Speaking of Miss Me....we have a plentiful selection of your favorite Miss Me Styles.

I'll come back to you over the weekend, with hopefully more
interesting stuff! I think I am beat from all my relaxed behavior. I should reconnect with my uptight self. Just kidding, g'night. JR
